High-bay warehouse used for retail fulfillment

Retail Warehousing & Distribution

Seasonal products were slotted into wave planning; store delivery ran on the same operations calendar.

Transport model
Warehousing + fulfillment + road distribution

Operation need

Warehouse visible,
store disconnected.

Autumn seasonal products entered the warehouse; stock levels were visible. But when store delivery waves were planned as a separate process, rack and dock did not move in the same rhythm.

When fulfillment, consolidation and distribution were watched by different teams, the season wave broke.

Challenge
Seasonal stock was visible in the warehouse, while store delivery ran as a separate process.
Scope
Seasonal intake, wave prep and store delivery

Planning

Wave, warehouse and store.

Season intake calendar, wave prep windows and store delivery hours were placed on one operations plan. The warehouse was positioned as the layer where visibility continues, not the end of the route.

Each wave locked from stock intake to store dock in the same language.

Warehouse distribution calendar and wave plan created.

Transport model

Warehouse + fulfillment + distribution.

Warehousing + fulfillment + road distribution

Seasonal intake, order prep and store distribution in one operation. Road was planned by wave; each store window tied to warehouse exit.

The mode did not change; the warehouse leg was added as part of the transport plan.

Coordination

Wave, warehouse and carrier.

Warehouse, fulfillment and road distribution teams moved in one operational language. When the wave changed, the plan updated and the store window was read again.

Stock level and outbound plan stayed on one view — not across separate systems.
