Designing the decision meeting

We took the meeting out of report-reading. Agenda, duration, and output were written.

The management meeting flowed like a report presentation. Each unit read its own slides; the decision was left for the next one. Time ran long; the output was not written.

The design is not homework to shorten a meeting. It is the agenda being a decision item, the duration being held, and the output being written the same day.

The agenda was the order of the units. The item waiting for a decision disappeared under information. Minutes were late; ownership scattered.

What remained on the table

  • A decision agenda
  • Duration and ownership
  • A report read in advance
  • Same-day output

Is there a decision on the table?

Let’s read it together. In a short conversation with your management team, we name what needs to become clear.
