Process

Consultation
process.

At DERAVIA, every patient journey begins with physician assessment. The process varies by individual; the stages below provide a general framework.

Every journey is different.

At DERAVIA, the assessment process can be described in four general stages — yet for each patient these stages progress at different speeds, may repeat, or a step may be omitted. In some cases treatment may not be recommended; this too is a possible outcome of the process.

The descriptions below provide a general framework. Your personal pathway is determined following consultation.

  • The process is not always linear
  • A stage may repeat or be skipped
  • Treatment suitability is determined following examination

Initial Enquiry

DERAVIA clinic reception area — appointment welcome

What happens

The process begins with an appointment request or telephone contact. Our team listens to your general area of concern and assessment needs, then plans the appropriate consultation type and appointment time together with you.

Information considered

  • Reason for visit and general area of concern
  • Previous treatments or procedures attempted (if any)
  • Brief information about any symptoms requiring urgent attention
  • Appointment preferences and contact details

What to expect

No diagnosis or treatment plan is created at this stage. The aim is to direct you to the appropriate physician assessment and clarify the appointment process.

Physician assessment

No clinical decision is made at this stage. The coordination team schedules an appropriate assessment appointment based on your area of concern; the medical evaluation begins during your physician consultation.

Physician Assessment

Dermatologist conducting a skin examination during patient assessment

What happens

A face-to-face examination is conducted by a specialist physician. The skin or scalp is assessed; medical history, current medications, and your expectations are reviewed together. Further investigation or a period of observation may be recommended if clinically appropriate.

Information considered

  • Skin or scalp structure, lesion distribution, and current condition
  • Medical history, current medications, and known allergies
  • Previous treatment or procedure experience
  • Lifestyle factors and level of expectation

What to expect

You can expect a thorough examination and an open question-and-answer process. A treatment plan may not be created on the same day; some cases require further observation or an additional assessment step.

Physician assessment

At this stage, the physician determines the nature of the concern, possible causes, and whether intervention is indicated. Treatment suitability, urgency, and clinical priorities are established through physician assessment.

Personalised Planning

Clinical skin analysis and assessment process

What happens

Based on examination findings, your physician discusses possible approaches with you. The rationale for each option, expected timeline, potential risks, and alternatives are explained clearly. Once you agree, the plan proceeds to implementation.

Information considered

  • Examination and assessment findings
  • Balance between patient goals and realistic outcome expectations
  • Skin tolerance, contraindications, and co-existing conditions
  • Prioritisation when multiple concerns are present

What to expect

You will receive a personalised plan recommendation with time to consider your decision. The plan may be phased, may begin conservatively, or in some cases observation or alternative referral may be recommended instead of active treatment.

Physician assessment

The physician determines which approach is appropriate, the sequence of steps, and whether treatment should be deferred. Every plan is individual; standard protocols are not applied uniformly.

Treatment & Follow-Up

Physician and patient follow-up consultation at DERAVIA clinic

What happens

Agreed treatments are performed under physician supervision. Review appointments are scheduled throughout; skin response and patient feedback are assessed together. The plan may be updated or paused if needed.

Information considered

  • Treatment or procedure response
  • Observed side effects or changes in tolerance
  • Patient feedback and impact on daily life
  • Changes in skin or scalp condition over time

What to expect

Outcomes vary from person to person; permanent results after a single session cannot be guaranteed. Multiple sessions, interim periods, or plan revisions may be required. Continuing with follow-up appointments is part of the process.

Physician assessment

The physician decides whether to continue treatment, adjust dosage or method, or discontinue the process. If response is insufficient, alternative approaches are considered.
