Avlu 37 is a courtyard-centred residential development set within Göktürk's green landscape. By linking unit types to the inner court, landscape, and shared spaces, the project seeks to create a sense of community at neighbourhood scale.
Natural light, air movement, and access to green space sit at the centre of the project's planning decisions.

Location & context
Göktürk is a settlement in northern Istanbul that has grown in close dialogue with its forest setting. Avlu 37 carries the calm and green character of this context into its programme.
The project site is positioned to align with the scale of the existing neighbourhood fabric and the natural topography.
Architecture & planning
The architectural organisation is built around blocks arranged on a central courtyard. Unit types face the court and landscape; corridors and shared spaces are resolved to receive natural light.
A low-density massing strategy helps preserve the project's green character.
Landscape & courtyard
The central courtyard is designed as the social and landscape heart of the project. Water features, shade trees, and seating areas define its atmosphere.
A peripheral landscape band creates a green buffer that softens the transition between the forest setting and the built form.
Materials & spatial character
Natural timber, stone, and warm-toned render form the project's material palette. Material choices reference the natural character of Göktürk.
Facade and landscape materials were selected against criteria of durability in outdoor conditions.
MEROVA
Development approach
Avlu 37 is a MEROVA project in which programme and landscape were designed concurrently. From the concept stage onward, the courtyard organisation has served as the shared reference point across disciplines.
The project remains in development, with design coordination ongoing.
