The practice.
How the studio thinks. Site, programme and material before style.
Metria is held together by a method, not by a look. Site, programme and material come before style. If a commission cannot be followed through construction, we do not take it.
The office opened in Karaköy in 2014. The first work was a house that had to sit on a slope and take the afternoon sun without becoming a glass box. That sequence — ground, light, then rooms — is still the way a drawing starts.
We treat architecture, interiors and planning as one practice. A court is decided before a façade. A shutter is specified with the wall. A street edge is drawn before the buildings that will face it. The brief names what must happen; the site names what is possible.
Form, function and presence are not a slogan. Form is the consequence of constraint. Function is the life the building has to hold. Presence is whether a room can take a gathering and still make sense when the gathering is over.

Form follows the ground, the climate and the street. We do not invent a site on the page.

Rooms are named by use before they are drawn. The brief is a set of constraints, not a mood.

Specified for how they weather and how they are built. Not for a photograph on opening day.

Presence
A building should hold a body and a gathering, then return to being structure, shade and wall.
